چکیده

This study aimed to investigate the chemical composition of steam distillate essential oil and corresponding hydrolate obtained from S. officinalis grown in Serbia, as well influence weather conditions (temperature precipitations) on their profiles. Furthermore, antimicrobial activity was investigated vitro. The main compounds were cis-thujone, followed by camphor, trans-thujone, 1,8-cineole, while slightly different oil, with 1,8-cineole compounds. Among eight respiratory-associated microorganisms, Klebsiella oxytoca most sensitive tested EOs (minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC)/minimal bactericidal/fungicidal (MBC/MFC) 14.20 28.4 ?L mL?1, respectively). MIC MBC values other bacteria ranged between 28.40 227.25 mL?1 for Candida albicans MIC/MFC 28.40/56.81 56.81–113.63 mL?1. Antibiotic susceptibility patterns analyzed microorganisms showed an intermediate level resistance commonly used antibiotics such ampicillin, levofloxacin, ciprofloxacin. As a preliminary approach profiling EO, results revealed that samples possess remarkable antibacterial activities could be develop pharmaceutical formulations alternative conventional antibiotic therapy.
